SEN Cover Teaching Assistant
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Salary: £83 - £90 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing
GSL Education is looking for an experienced and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a Secondary SEN School in Scunthorpe. This full-time, ongoing role requires working alongside teachers to support students with special educational needs, including assisting with classwork and providing individualised attention to students as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and deliver lessons, providing support to students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to engage fully with their learning.
- Support students both academically and socially, helping them to adapt to teaching methods and materials suited to their needs.
- Assist with behaviour management and work in line with school policies to promote positive behaviour among students.
- Foster strong relationships with students, especially those with additional needs, and be a confident, approachable role model.
- Help maintain classroom discipline and provide feedback on students’ progress.
- Work closely with the school’s leadership and other support staff to provide the best care, educational support, and social guidance possible.
Requirements:
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Special Needs Teaching Assistant qualification preferred.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in a childcare, education, or SEN setting, ideally with students who have SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or other additional needs.
- Previous experience in care or a background in PE/Sports is highly desirable.
- Passionate about working with young people and ensuring barriers to learning are overcome.
- Confident in delivering pre-planned lessons and interventions, as well as promoting positive behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
- Must hold or be willing to apply for a Child Only DBS registered to the update service.
