GSL Education are searching for a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant in schools located in Hedge End. This position involves close collaboration with teachers to provide tailored support, enhancing student engagement and achievement. Location: Hedge End
Rate: £12.82 to £14.72 hourly (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

About the Role:

As an SEN Assistant, you will provide vital support to students with Special Education Needs, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement needed to thrive. Your contributions will play a crucial part in creating an inclusive atmosphere where every student can excel.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Adapt educational resources and classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement tailored support strategies for students with Special Education Needs.
  • Provide direct, one-on-one and group support during lessons, helping with various tasks and activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management techniques suited to individual students.
  • Foster the development of students' social skills and confidence through targeted interventions.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage their engagement and motivation.
  • Work with parents and external professionals to ensure a holistic support system is in place for each student.

SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
  • Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
  • Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
