Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Andover
Rate: £12.82 to £14.72 hourly (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a proactive and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant in schools located in Andover. This position is critical for delivering children with special education needs personalised assistance so they can thrive both academically and socially. Every student will feel appreciated and empowered in an inclusive learning environment owing to significant measures to your efforts.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting students with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support required to succeed. This position involves working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans, providing one-on-one assistance and promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct assistance to SEN students, offering personalised support to enhance their learning experience.
  • Assist small groups of students with Special Education Needs, facilitating their participation in classroom activities.
  • Work with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of the students.
  • Help manage classroom activities and create an inclusive environment that promotes learning and positive behaviour.
  • Track and report on the progress of SEN students, providing valuable feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support students in developing their independence and self-confidence, preparing them for future challenges.

SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
  • Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
