SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Start Date: December 2024/January 2025
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £12.82 per hour
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Bournemouth. This role involves supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), disabilities, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored learning plans, ensuring that all students receive the guidance and assistance they require to thrive in an educational setting.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Assist teachers in delivering educational programmes tailored to students with SEN.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students, promoting their academic and social development.
- Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to teaching staff.
- Collaborate with parents, specialists, and educational professionals to develop effective learning strategies.
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection in all interactions with students.
Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children with ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH, and SEND.
- A relevant qualification in education or child development (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
- A strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students and staff effectively.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and practices
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
