Special Educational Needs (SEN) Class Teacher
Location: Dorchester
Start Date: December 2024 / January 2025
Contract: Full-time
Salary Scale: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on experience)
Are you a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Class Teacher ready to make a meaningful impact on young students in Dorchester?
GSL Education are seeking an SEN experienced Class Teacher with a strong background in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), disabilities, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Your role will involve delivering tailored learning programmes that respect each student’s unique abilities, encouraging their holistic development.
The SEN Class Teacher will provide specialised teaching to students with varying special educational needs, ensuring a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment. This role is essential in creating personalised learning plans, evaluating progress, and adjusting approaches to meet the diverse needs of each student.
Responsibilities of an SEN Class Teacher:
- Plan and deliver individualised lessons aligned with each student’s educational goals
- Monitor and assess progress, adapting strategies to optimise learning outcomes
- Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for all students
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, support staff, and specialists to provide comprehensive care
- Communicate with parents and carers to support student development outside the classroom
Required Qualifications for an SEN Class Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised in the UK.
- Proven experience with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and SEND.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and a passion for inclusive education.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and practices
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
