Behaviour Support Mentor
Location: Poole
Start Date: December 2024/January 2025
Contract: Full-time
Salary Scale: £12.82 per hour
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Mentor for a full-time role to join one of our client schools in Poole. The successful candidate will help students manage behaviour, develop coping strategies, and engage fully in their education.
As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), disabilities, and other SEND requirements.
Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Mentor:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and SEND needs.
- Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Support students during lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities to encourage positive behaviour.
- Act as a mentor and advocate for students, promoting resilience, self-regulation, and positive social interactions.
- Work collaboratively with staff to ensure consistent, high-quality support for each student’s unique needs.
Required Qualifications for Behaviour Support Mentor:
- Previous experience with ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH, and SEND or in a similar role within an education or support setting.
- Knowledge of SEND and behaviour management strategies.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
