Learning Support Mentor

Location: Dorchester

Start Date: December 2024 / January 2025

Contract: Full-time

Salary Scale: £12.82 per hour

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Mentor for a full-time role to join one of our client schools in Dorchester. You’ll be responsible for fostering a supportive environment, where each student can develop both academically and personally. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff to create inclusive learning experiences and help students engage confidently with the curriculum.

As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play an instrumental role in providing tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH, and SEND.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Mentor:

  • Support students with ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH, and SEND in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
  • Foster positive behaviour and engagement through structured interventions.
  • Assist in delivering educational plans tailored to each student’s individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to track and support student progress.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and a love of learning among students.

Required Qualifications for a Learning Support Mentor:

  • Previous experience with ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH, and SEND or in a similar role within an education or support setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND and behaviour management strategies.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
  • A genuine commitment to student welfare and success.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
