About the Role
As a Cover Teacher, you will take on the responsibility of delivering lessons in the absence of regular teachers, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students. You will engage students in English and adapt quickly to various classroom settings, promoting a positive atmosphere for learning.

Primary Responsibilities of the Cover Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging English lessons in line with the school’s curriculum, ensuring consistency and adherence to educational standards.
  • Cultivate a positive classroom environment that inspires active student participation and nurtures a passion for learning.
  • Evaluate and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support individual growth and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain consistency in learning and align with the school’s goals and values.
  • Utilise effective behaviour management techniques to create a respectful and focused learning atmosphere.

Qualifications for the Cover Teacher Role:

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS, PGCE, or an equivalent, preferably with a focus in English.
  • Experience teaching at the secondary school level, with a solid understanding of the English curriculum.
  • Previous experience as a Cover Teacher is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Adaptability and a strong sense of teamwork, with the capacity to transition smoothly into different classroom settings.
  • A dedication to fostering inclusivity and support, aiming to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for every student.

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • A DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
