GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join a supportive school in Sholing. This is a fantastic opportunity to help students with special educational needs thrive in their educational journey.
About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you will be an integral part of the school team, providing tailored support to students with autism. Your role will involve working closely with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students.
Key Responsibilities of the Autism Support Worker:
- Assist in creating and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students with autism, ensuring personalised support.
- Deliver focused one-on-one and group assistance to aid student engagement in learning and the development of key social skills.
- Promote positive behavior and emotional resilience, cultivating a caring and supportive classroom environment.
- Work in partnership with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each student.
- Track and document student progress, adjusting support methods as needed based on feedback and observations.
- Establish a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where every student feels respected, valued, and encouraged.
Requirements for the Autism Support Worker:
- Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, showing empathy and understanding.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs are desirable.
- A commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment.
To work with GSL Education as an Autism Support Worker, you will need:
- The right to work in the UK.
- An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
- A DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
