ASD Teacher (Secondary)

Job Title: ASD Teacher
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £125-£155 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long Term

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are presently working with an astounding secondary school in Newcastle that is seeking a dedicated ASD Teacher. This role comes with pride as it will make a significant impact on the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and help them achieve their full potential.

About the Role:
As an ASD Teacher, you will create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, tailoring your teaching strategies to meet their individual needs. You will play a key role in helping students achieve their educational goals.

Responsibilities for an ASD Teacher Include:

  • Designing and implementing tailored educational plans that meet the individual needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Creating a supportive and structured classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
  • Collaborating with other teachers, support staff and external professionals to provide comprehensive support.
  • Monitoring and assessing the progress of students, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Engaging with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Promoting social and emotional development through targeted interventions and activities.

Requirements for an ASD Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Prior experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a UK secondary school is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective teaching strategies for students with ASD.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

To work with GSL Education as an ASD Teacher, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Provide an up-to-date CV that covers the past 10 years with gaps not exceeding a month and includes all references from the past 2 years, with employer references from all places worked in the past 2 years.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
