Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Winchester
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a Special Education Needs (SEN) Learning Support to join a client school in Winchester. This SEN Learning Support role will have you working directly with students, guiding them through their learning journey, and providing essential support to help them thrive in a warm and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • As an SEN Learning Support, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to students with special educational needs, ensuring their individual requirements are met effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to develop and implement tailored learning strategies, adapting methods to suit each student’s learning style and needs.
  • Assist with a range of classroom activities, providing focused support in literacy, numeracy, and other core areas.
  • Prioritise student safety and well-being at all times, both within the classroom and during other school activities, remaining vigilant to ensure a secure learning environment.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to participate and feel valued, contributing to a supportive classroom and school environment.
  • Track and report on student progress regularly, offering valuable insights to teachers and SEN coordinators to refine learning plans and set achievable goals.
  • Respond constructively to challenging behaviours, using compassion and patience to help students manage emotions, build resilience, and develop coping strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an SEN Learning Support or in a similar role within a school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ, are desirable but not essential.
  • A passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy to handle a variety of situations.
  • Must hold a current enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
