£155 - £220 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a passionate Humanities Teacher in Sheffield (S9), with expertise in History, Geography, or Religious Studies, to deliver inspiring lessons and enrich students’ learning experiences.

As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons across a range of humanities subjects. Your goal will be to foster critical thinking, curiosity, and a love for learning. You will work with students of varying abilities, adapting your teaching to ensure that every student can succeed.

Responsibilities of the Humanities Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Humanities subjects (History, Geography, Religious Studies), ensuring students are engaged and challenged in their learning.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and schemes of work that align with the national curriculum, incorporating a variety of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Use a range of assessment tools to monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and set achievable goals for improvement.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and curiosity about the world around them.
  • Support students' personal development, fostering critical thinking and helping them connect classroom learning to real-world issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and initiatives that enhance students' understanding of Humanities subjects.
  • Participate in school-wide activities, such as parent evenings and extracurricular events, to support the holistic development of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and attendance, and report these to the relevant stakeholders as needed.

Requirements of the Humanities Teacher:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Having teaching experience in Humanities subjects (History, Geography, or Religious Studies) at Key Stages 3, 4, and/or 5.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK national curriculum and the ability to deliver engaging, thought-provoking lessons.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for the Humanities, with a commitment to helping students develop their academic potential and personal growth.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching with a desire for continuous improvement and professional development.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • DBS on the Update Service required.
