SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Poole
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start date: Immediate start / January 2025 starts possible
Contract: Term-time only

GSL Education are excited to announce that a SEN school in Poole is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team, providing essential support to students with special educational needs (SEN).

About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with diverse learning needs by planning and delivering intensive assistance tailored to their requirements. The ideal candidate will be proactive and confident in managing behaviour, fostering student engagement and promoting an inclusive environment where all pupils feel supported and cared for.

Essential qualities that we are looking for:

  • Offer tailored assistance to individual students with SEN to help them overcome learning challenges and achieve academic success.
  • Aid the teacher in lesson preparation, classroom management and the facilitation of engaging and effective lessons.
  • Assist in assessing and recording students' progress, providing valuable feedback to the teacher to inform instructional strategies.
  • Help maintain a supportive and encouraging classroom atmosphere that fosters student participation and confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents and other staff members to implement effective support strategies tailored to each student’s needs.

The successful candidate will:

  • Must have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role in an SEN-based classroom setting.
  • Be a recent graduate with a degree in Education or a related field.
  • Have an understanding and compassionate approach to helping the students in an inclusive learning environment.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of special educational needs and effective teaching methodologies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps)
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
