SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Totton
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education Southampton branch are searching for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Totton.
This role of SEN TA will allow you to provide vital support to students with SEN, helping them to overcome academic and social challenges. Whether working one-to-one or with small groups, you will play a critical role in shaping a positive learning experience for students, adapting lessons and approaches to meet their unique needs.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to understand and cater to the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Modify learning materials and classroom strategies to support students' engagement and progress.
- Provide one-on-one support to students, assisting them during lessons and activities.
- Help implement behaviour management strategies tailored to each student’s specific requirements.
- Encourage the development of students' social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Build supportive relationships with students, helping them build confidence and achieve success.
- Work closely with families and external professionals to ensure consistent, holistic support for each student.
SEN TA Qualifications and Skills:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly providing one-to-one or small group support, is advantageous.
- A solid understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties etc.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude are essential.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to working as part of a team.
