SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hedge End
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education Southampton branch are currently recruiting for a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools in Hedge End.

In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored support to students with SEN, ensuring they have the tools and assistance they need to succeed both academically and personally. Whether you’re offering one-to-one guidance or working with small groups, your role will be pivotal in creating an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to understand the specific needs of students with SEN.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies to help students engage with the curriculum.
  • Provide dedicated one-on-one support during classroom activities and lessons.
  • Assist with behaviour management, promoting a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Support students in developing social, communication, and independence skills.
  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents to foster a collaborative support system.
  • Adapt learning materials and techniques to suit the needs of individual students.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly in one-to-one or small group settings, is preferred.
  • A sound understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties etc.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for fostering student development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
