Are you passionate about making a positive impact on students' behaviour and well-being? A local SEN school in Poole is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Support Worker to join the dynamic team to support students' social and emotional development.
About the Role:
As a Behavioural Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment for students. This includes supporting with their education, but also their holistic development, such as students’ communication, social skills and independence.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in managing challenging behaviours.
- Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in various settings.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour and social skills among students.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and review behaviour intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Monitor student behaviour and progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary.
- Assist teachers in maintaining a productive learning environment by implementing proactive strategies and providing support during lessons.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with behavioural challenges in an educational or similar setting.
- Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
- Empathy, patience, and resilience to effectively support students in managing their behaviour and emotions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, contributing to a positive school community.
