GSL Education Newcastle Branch are looking for a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Gateshead! This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in early childhood education while nurturing young children's development and inspiring their love for learning.
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support the learning and development of young children, helping to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. You will assist the class teacher with day-to-day activities, encourage social and educational growth, and ensure each child’s individual needs are met through play-based learning and positive reinforcement.
Responsibilities of the Early Years Teaching Assistant:
- Support the teacher in delivering dynamic, age-appropriate activities that enhance children's learning and overall development.
- Maintain a safe, organised learning environment, always ensuring the well-being of all children.
- Observe and track children's progress, behaviour, and development, providing timely feedback to the teacher and parents.
- Foster positive behaviour and social skills through proactive role modelling and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Assist in building strong home-school relationships by communicating children's progress and addressing any concerns with parents or guardians.
- Prepare and organise learning materials, set up activities, and ensure the classroom is tidy and ready for daily use.
Requirements of the Early Years Teaching Assistant:
- Prior experience as an Early Years Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role, is highly advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Possession of a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare, or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and its practical implementation in early childhood education.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to cultivate a supportive and positive learning environment.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
