SEN Teaching Assistants

Location: Bournemouth

Rate: £12.82 per hour

Contract type: Full-time or Part-time (based on candidate availability)

Start Date: November 2024 or January 2025

GSL Education are looking for dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming school in Bournemouth. Whether you’re seeking full-time or part-time work, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with SEN.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support, helping them navigate their learning challenges and creating a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer personalised assistance to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support required to succeed in their learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers to modify lessons so they are accessible to all students, adapting materials and activities as needed.
  • Contribute to a supportive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged and respected.
  • Keep track of student progress, identifying achievements and areas for improvement, and report this to teachers and SEN coordinators to support targeted interventions.
  • Assist students during school activities, break times, and transitions between classes or activities, ensuring they feel comfortable and are well-supported throughout the day.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential).
  • Be passionate about helping children overcome learning challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
