Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEN (Special Educational Needs)
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £75 to £110 per day, depending on experience

Contract: Daily supply, Long-term

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are collaborating with an esteemed SEN-based school located in Newcastle, that isrecruiting a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their brilliant team. This position involves working closely with students, teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Summary of the Role:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to help students overcome their barriers to learning, enabling them to achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators and other support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Essential Responsibilities of a Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide immense support to students with SEN.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and support students in developing positive social skills.
  • Work with the SEN team to monitor and track student progress.
  • Support students in their academic and personal development, helping them to achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a degree, preferably in education or a related field.
  • Possess previous experience working alongside students with SEN.
  • Possess a genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bear patience, empathy and a positive attitude.

To work with GSL Education as a School Admin, you will need to:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps).
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
