SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £75 - £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long Term

Are you passionate about helping young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education Newcastle are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students in a meaningful way, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant , you will work closely with students who need extra support, guiding them through their daily learning and helping them manage their emotions. Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive learning environment, making a real difference in their lives.

Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary):

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a classroom setting.
  • Assist with their academic and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to deliver tailored support.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and coping strategies.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group assistance.
  • Help students build confidence and engage with their learning.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary):

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an SEMH or SEN setting.
  • A positive and patient attitude.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm manner.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to promoting student wellbeing.
