About The Role :

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who may need extra support with their emotional and mental health, helping them succeed in their education. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact in a school that values the well-being of its pupils and staff.

Responsibilities of a Mental Health Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with mental health needs.
  • Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Work with teachers to develop strategies to manage student behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Help students engage with their learning and develop their social skills.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students to the teaching staff.
  • Encourage positive mental health practices within the school setting.

Requirements for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with young people in a supportive role, ideally in an education or mental health setting.
  • A caring and patient approach, with excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of mental health issues and how they can affect learning.
  • A commitment to promoting well-being and positive behaviour.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

To work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Two references from within the last 2 years.
