Graduate Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: November 2024
Salary: £83 – £100 per day
Posts Available: x 3 (2 Full-time, 1 Part-Time)

GSL Education is seeking 3 Graduate Teaching Assistants to provide 1:1 and small group support for a large Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire. The School is highly reputable, with a proud history, having served the young people of York since the 1800s. In their most recent Ofsted inspection, the School was judged to be ‘Good’.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To work under the SENCO to support access to learning for Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • To work with students with special educational needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • To work collaboratively with class teachers to manage pupil behaviour and engagement.
  • To establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and to engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Encourage pupils to work independently as appropriate.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities as required.
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including at breaktimes and at lunchtimes as required.
