SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Chesterfield

Salary: £80 - £100 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our client school in Chesterfield and provide essential support to students in achieving their full potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting students with SEN, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. You will work with individuals or small groups to provide tailored assistance, helping students overcome learning challenges and fostering their personal and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support for students with SEN, adapting materials and resources to suit individual learning needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons that meet the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Support students in developing their social and emotional skills, promoting positive behaviour and interaction.
  • Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and assisting in maintaining accurate records.
  • Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure that individual education plans are followed and that students receive the best possible support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently when needed.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
