SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Sleaford

Start Date: ASAP

Salary Scale: £83.33 - £90.00 per day

GSL Education Lincoln are currently recruiting a dedicated and passionate Special Education Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to work in a vibrant client school in Sleaford. The role will involve providing tailored support to individuals or small groups of students, enabling them to fully access the curriculum and develop essential skills. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and SEN coordinators (SENCOs) to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment for pupils with complex educational requirements.

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs to overcome barriers to learning and promote academic and personal development.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with special educational needs in their academic, emotional, and social development.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor students' progress.
  • Assist classroom teachers in managing pupil behaviour and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils, ensuring they can engage with the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to meet the educational and emotional needs of pupils.

Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in an SEN setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
