SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Location: Ashington
Salary: £75-£110 per day

GSL Education Newcastle, have an exciting opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Ashington. This role is perfect for someone looking to make a real difference in students' lives, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students who require additional support due to their emotional and behavioural needs. You will be part of a dedicated team, ensuring that each student receives the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive in a school setting.

Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary):

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and confidence.
  • Help implement tailored learning plans and strategies to suit individual needs.
  • Collaborate with staff to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure that all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary):

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.
  • Ability to work well in a team and build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to adapt to different situations.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
