Salary Range: £83.33 - £95
per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Grantham. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.


About the role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring additional support, helping them reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Your role will involve providing personalised support, assisting with classroom activities, and ensuring each student’s individual needs are met.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with special educational needs, tailoring your approach to meet their unique requirements.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students with personal care needs, ensuring their well-being and comfort throughout the school day.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies to help students develop social and emotional skills.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources to support teaching and learning activities.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to the planning and assessment process.


Requirements of the
SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional needs such as Autism, Learning Difficulties, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs is beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A genuine passion for working with students with additional needs and a commitment to their development and well-being.
  • Ability to adapt to varying needs and situations within the school environment.
  • Team Teach Trained is required.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
