SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
Start Date: 10th October 2024
Nature of Employment: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work at an Alternative Provision located in York, North Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be supporting  students predominantly in Year 11 with diverse special educational needs, primarily focusing on SEMH and ADHD.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Working under the direction of Class Teachers, managing classroom behaviour, delivering activities, and helping students with their learning on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Provide dedicated support to students with special needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Use appropriate strategies to manage and support student behaviour.
  • Be patient, with a kind and caring approach to student learning.
  • Work efficiently with class teachers and other support staff.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and supporting students with behavioural issues.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Prior experience working with students with special needs in a mainstream, SEN, or similar educational setting.
  • Have knowledge and understanding about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of children.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
