Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN)
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £75 - £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP

 GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive special educational needs (SEN) school in Sunderland.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children with special educational needs, helping them reach their full potential within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities of a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN):

  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities.
  • Assist students with special educational needs (SEN) on a 1:1 or group basis.
  • Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work with other professionals such as SENCOs and external agencies to ensure the needs of the students are met.
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support to students when needed.

Requirements for a Graduate Teaching Assistant SEN:

  • A genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs (SEN).
  • A degree in any discipline is desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
