Position: Teaching Support Assistant

Hours: 8:30-3:30 Monday-Friday

Contract: Temporary (initially, but with scope to become permanent), term-time only

Pay: £12.82 an hour

We are currently working with local primary schools in the Bournemouth and Christchurch area, and we are seeking proactive and personable individuals to support primary pupils engage successfully in lessons and playtimes, often on a 1:1 basis. Pupils display a range of SEN and SEMH needs, so any experience working with children or young people with additional needs would be desirable, but not essential. The schools all focus on providing a nurturing environment where all pupils can flourish and access the curriculum through tailored and effective approaches.

Role of a Teaching Assistant (SEN):

  • Supporting the Class Teacher
  • Embrace all aspects of the school’s visions and core values  
  • Working with pupils with a range of SEN or challenging behaviours  
  • Full-time (part-time applicants will also be considered for the role)
  • 1:1 and small group work ensuring pupils stay on track and engaged with the curriculum 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding! 
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH school (not essential) 
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Be able to adapt to the needs of the pupils and be open to exploring a range of strategies to engage and manage behaviour

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
