Maths Graduate

Salary: £83 - £100 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Location: York, North Yorkshire

GSL Education are looking for Maths Graduates to work as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor or Tutor in local Schools in York and the surrounding areas, throughout the academic year.

Maths Tutor Role:

  • Be responsible for interventions delivered within the Maths department in line with the department’s aims and objectives.
  • Work closely with class teachers and Key Stage Leads in the Maths department to ensure curriculum continuity and progression in intervention sessions.
  • To keep abreast of new developments/initiatives in both special needs’ education and mainstream education.
  • Support the Maths department in closing the skills and knowledge gap of targeted students, due to the pandemic and provide support in the classroom where appropriate.

Cover Supervisor Role:

  • Supervise work that has been set in accordance with the school policy.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
  • Collect any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
  • Assist students when they have questions with the pre-arranged work.

Teaching Assistant Role:

  • To support pupils with identifying individual needs, on a one-to-one, or small group basis.
  • Supporting teachers in the department and classroom whilst effectively managing behaviour.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education to degree level with GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Experience in a similar role, particularly in relation to leading intervention sessions or supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of support techniques and programmes.
  • The ability to lead and work as part of a team.
