Functional Skills Tutor
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: £25 - £30 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
GSL Education’s South Yorkshire branch is looking for an experienced and passionate Functional Skills Tutor to deliver high-quality teaching in Mathematics and English for one of its client Schools in Doncaster. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching Functional Skills and will be committed to helping students achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities for Functional Skills Tutor:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Functional Skills in Maths and English lessons to students at various levels.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group tuition, tailored to meet individual learning needs.
- Assess students’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
- Support students with additional needs, ensuring all students have equal access to the curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records of students' progress and achievements.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience and meet the students' educational needs.
- Contribute to the development of learning materials and resources.
- Participate in meetings, training, and professional development as required.
Qualifications and Experience for Functional Skills Tutor:
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, PGDE or Cert Ed is desirable.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills in Maths and English.
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of curriculum requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A valid DBS registered on the Update Service or the willingness to apply for one.
