SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Lincoln
Salary: £83.33 to £90 per day

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them excel both academically and emotionally.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, working one-on-one or in small groups to aid in both their educational and emotional development. Your role will be vital in fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes students' well-being and academic success.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer personalised support to students with SEMH needs, either individually or in small groups, to enhance their learning and emotional development.
  • Assist in implementing tailored education and behaviour plans for students, addressing their unique needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting a respectful and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, aiding their emotional regulation and social interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to maintain consistency in student support across the school.
  • Monitor student progress and assist in adjusting interventions and strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviours, offering guidance on emotional and social challenges.

Essential Criteria for an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Prior experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a school environment.
  • A solid understanding of SEMH and its effects on learning and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with both students and staff.
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to managing challenging situations.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
