Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Ashington
Salary: £75 - £110 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a motivated  Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Ashington This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive environment, helping children thrive and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

As a Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Teaching Assistant (Primary), you will:

  • Support children with SEMH needs in their learning and development.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored educational activities.
  • Help manage challenging behaviour in a positive and nurturing way.
  • Work 1:1 or with small groups to encourage progress and build confidence.
  • Provide emotional support to children throughout the school day.
  • Promote social interaction and positive mental health.

 

Requirements:

To be successful in the role of Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) Teaching Assistant (Primary), you should have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs or in a similar role.
  • A calm, patient, and caring approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • A strong understanding of the needs of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one processed immediately.
