SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Lincoln
Salary: £83.33 to £90 per day
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education’s Lincoln branch is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join our client schools as a SEN Teaching Assistant, focusing on Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is perfect for those looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students with additional educational needs.

Job Summary:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with faculty members to support teaching efforts in a school setting. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with lesson preparation, providing support to students, and helping with classroom management, ensuring all pupils have equal opportunities to succeed.

SEN Teaching Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, including SEMH, ASC, MLD, and ADHD.
  • Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help the teacher assess student progress and maintain records of achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Support the school’s behaviour management policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and engaging students in learning activities.

Essential Requirements for a Successful SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • A passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • A degree in Education or a relevant subject area is preferred but not essential.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for education.
  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Ability to adapt to varying classroom dynamics and educational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
