SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Secondary School (Loughborough Area)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to SEN students within a mainstream secondary classroom, helping them to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning plans, focusing on individual needs and goals for SEN students.
  • Support students with their physical, emotional, and social development, ensuring they feel included and supported within the wider school community.
  • Encourage positive behavior and independence, collaborating closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker in a secondary school or similar environment.
  • A caring and patient approach with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions, including Autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are desirable but not essential.
