Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £12.82-£14.72 per hour
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary) to join one of our wonderful client primary school in Portsmouth. If you are committed to supporting young learners with Special Educational Needs and creating a positive learning environment, this role is for you!

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary), you will be an integral part of the classroom, providing one-on-one and small group support to children with diverse needs. You will assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning plans, ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist the class teacher in preparing lesson materials and classroom activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with physical, emotional, and learning difficulties.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support where needed.
  • Help manage classroom resources and ensure the smooth running of activities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
  • Experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary) is preferred
  • A caring and patient approach to working with children
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to apply for one
