Job Title: QTS Design and Technology Teacher

Location: Hillingdon, London
Salary: MPS/UPS (Dependent on experience)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic QTS Design and Technology Teacher to join our secondary school in Hillingdon. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons in Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 to 5, with a focus on engaging students in creative problem-solving and practical skills development. You will inspire students to explore design, engineering, and technological solutions to real-world challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and practical lessons in Design and Technology, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum.
  • Teach Design and Technology across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, preparing students for GCSE and A-Level exams.
  • Foster a hands-on learning environment that encourages students to develop design, engineering, and technical skills.
  • Support students in using a variety of tools, materials, and technologies to complete design projects and prototypes.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and ensuring each student achieves their potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior according to school policies.
  • Encourage creativity, innovation, and independent thinking through classroom projects and assessments.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and ensure health and safety standards are met in practical lessons.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop the Design and Technology curriculum, incorporating new technologies and teaching methods.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events related to Design and Technology, including STEM projects and competitions.
  • Stay updated with industry developments and best practices in Design and Technology education.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Design and Technology or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Design, Engineering, and Technology education.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality education.
  • Proficiency in teaching a range of materials, tools, and technologies, including CAD/CAM and other digital design software.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level exams in Design and Technology.
  • Experience incorporating STEM education into the classroom and promoting cross-curricular learning.
  • A track record of contributing to curriculum development and extracurricular activities such as design competitions and clubs.
