GSL Education is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for you to join a supportive and dedicated team in one of our client schools in Wakefield as a SEN Teaching Assistant starting September 2024.

Job Summary:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to help students overcome their barriers to learning, enabling them to achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour and support students in developing positive social skills.
  • Working with the SEN team to monitor students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Implementing behaviour management policies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Supporting students in their academic and personal development, helping them to achieve their potential.
  • Encouraging students to develop their independence and confidence.

The Essential Requirements for Successful SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • A recent degree in Education, Psychology or a relevant subject area would be a plus point.
  • Previous experience in a similar role of childcare or as a SEN Teaching Assistant is preferred.
  • Passion for working with children and commitment to their educational development.
  • Ability to adapt to varying classroom dynamics and educational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
