SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary

Location: Sunderland, Tyne & Wear
Salary: £75 - £100 per day
Contract: Full Time, Temporary

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to work in primary schools in Sunderland. This role involves providing tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Job Summary:

  • Support students with SEMH difficulties in a primary school setting.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized support plans.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students as directed by the SENCO or class teacher.
  • Help students develop coping strategies for managing their emotions and behaviour.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote the social and emotional well-being of all students.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs or similar roles.
  • Strong empathy and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
