Cover Supervisor
Salary: £90-£110 a day
Reports to: Assistant Head Teacher
Job Purpose: Delivering ‘cover lessons’ across the curriculum, supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, maintaining order, and keeping pupils on task with their learning.
Liaison with: Teaching staff, support staff, Senior Leadership Team, pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pupils engaged in learning activities and maintain good order in the absence of teachers.
- Provide objective and accurate feedback to teachers on the conduct of the lesson.
- Act as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and behavior.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
- Keep pupils on task and respond to general queries.
Support for Teachers:
- Keep appropriate records as agreed with the teacher.
- Promote positive values, attitudes, and good pupil behavior, addressing conflicts promptly in line with policy.
- Encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behavior.
Support for the Curriculum:
- Support the use of ICT where appropriate.
- Make appropriate use of equipment and resources.
Support for the School:
- Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Support difference and ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.
- Participate in training and other learning activities as required.
- Attend relevant school meetings.
- Respect confidentiality at all times.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in the performance and development review process, identifying learning and development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety responsibilities in the workplace.
- Ensure all duties and services provided align with the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
