Disability Support Worker
Location: Wareham
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Salary Scale: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker for a reputable school in Wareham. The role involves providing tailored support to students with disabilities, ensuring they can access education in an inclusive and supportive environment.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with the school's teaching and support staff to implement strategies that promote the students' development, both academically and socially. You will also be responsible for assisting with classroom management and providing one-on-one support to students who require additional help.
Responsibilities of a Disability Support Worker:
- Offer tailored support to students with a range of disabilities.
- Assist with personal care where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained.
- Support students during lessons, ensuring their full participation.
- Work collaboratively with the school’s teaching staff to implement individual learning plans.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to relevant staff.
- Ensure a safe learning environment by promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding.
- Adapt learning materials to meet the specific needs of students.
Qualifications for a Disability Support Worker:
- Experience in supporting students with disabilities is preferred.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic educational environment.
- A relevant qualification in special education or disability support is desirable.
