Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Poole
Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are currently seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant (TA) to work at a primary school in Poole from September 2025. This rewarding role involves working on a one-to-one basis with a pupil with Autism, supporting them throughout the school day to access learning and social opportunities. The school prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience supporting children, whether in a nursery, as a sports coach, or in any other child-related role. A school tour will be arranged prior to a more formal interview process, with interviews scheduled in the coming weeks.
Teaching Assistant (TA) Responsibilities:
- Offer one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism in a primary classroom
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, communication, and engagement
- Adapt resources and activities to meet the pupil’s specific needs
- Liaise regularly with the class teacher and SENCo to review progress and support plans
- Promote a positive, safe, and structured learning environment
- Provide encouragement, consistency, and routine throughout the school day
Requirements for a Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children – nursery, sports coaching, or childcare roles welcomed
- Previous experience working with children in a SEN setting is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable but not mandatory.
- Patient, understanding, and resilient nature
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A desire to make a difference in a child’s educational journey
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
