About the Role:

At now, GSL Education is in search of a History Teacher to fill a post at one of our client schools in Barnsley. As a History Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of historians. You will deliver engaging lessons that ignite curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the complexities of the past. Role of a History Teacher:

  • History teachers are responsible for delivering the national curriculum or any other relevant curriculum standards. They design lessons that cover a wide range of historical periods, events, and themes, ensuring that students develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
  • They create or adapt teaching resources such as lesson plans, worksheets, and multimedia presentations to engage students and support their learning. This may involve incorporating primary and secondary sources, including artifacts, documents, and digital resources.
  • Like any teacher, they maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment conducive to student engagement and participation. They manage classroom activities, discussions, and group work effectively.
  • History teachers assess students' understanding through various methods such as exams, essays, projects, and presentations. They provide constructive feedback to help students improve their historical knowledge, analytical skills, and writing abilities.
  • History teachers strive to present a diverse range of perspectives and voices in their teaching, reflecting the experiences of different social groups and marginalized communities. They promote inclusivity and challenge stereotypes in their lessons.
  • Some history teachers may also organize or supervise extra-curricular activities such as history clubs, field trips to historical sites, or participation in historical competitions and events.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a teacher within an educational setting.
  • Original or certified copies of your degree certificates relevant to teaching history subjects.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certificate or evidence of completion of a recognized teacher training program.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
